PURPOSE STATEMENT

On an on-call/substitute basis, this position performs routine duties in the preparation and serving of food and assists in maintaining sanitary conditions of the school dining and kitchen facilities for breakfast, lunch and snacks.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist in preparation of various food items according to production records, kitchen manager instructions, and food safety guidelines.
  2. Assist in the panning and wrapping of prepared food.
  3. Fill milk cooler and condiment containers; set up utensils, napkins, trays and other serving items before meal times.
  4. Set up salad bars, serving tables and warming carts for serving meals to provide nutrition for educational achievement.
  5. Serve meals and ala carte items to students and staff; serve appropriate quantities; present foods attractively; assist students in assembling meals on trays.
  6. Assist in monitoring and recording food and kitchen equipment temperatures daily.
  7. Clean and wipe down serving and meal areas between meal periods; refill containers and serving items.
  8. Clean carts, tables and other food serving areas after meal periods; wash dishes, pots and pans; store equipment; sweep and mop floors; assist with laundry; empty garbage.
  9. Clean refrigerator, freezers, kitchen equipment, dish area, storage areas, shelves and other areas; assist with freight.
  10. Assist with closing the kitchen; turn off equipment and lights; ensure doors are closed and/or locked.
  11. Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Reports to the Nutrition Services Director and assigned kitchen manager.
