PURPOSE STATEMENT

The temporary support staff worker will perform a variety of duties to assist district support staff in the Facilities and Operations departments. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Move office and classroom furniture, equipment, supplies and materials as directed.
  2. Assist facilities and operations staff with a variety of grounds maintenance functions.
  3. Rake, pull, and hoe to remove weeds from grounds or around structures; apply/remove bark from shrub beds; remove debris, leaves, brush, and trimmings from grounds, streets, sidewalks, stairs, and parking lots; mow, edge, aerate, and maintain campus grounds.
  4. Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information, consistent with district ethical guidelines.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Director and/or the Facilities and Operations Director.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Facilities and Operations Director


MENTAL DEMANDS

  • May experience frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • Must respond to a wide range of staff needs and behaviors in a positive and service oriented manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to sixty (60) pounds. Must be able to perform tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical exertion.
  • Must be able to twist the upper torso and neck and bend frequently. Must have good upper body strength to handle, grasp and grip objects on a constant basis using the upper extremities.
  • Exposed to noise from power equipment.
  • May periodically work outdoors in inclement weather.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Skills and experience necessary to carry out the assignment.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow direction from a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to use a variety of manual tools and equipment such as rakes, hand edger, shovels, pruning sheers, loppers, bow saw and wheelbarrows.
  • Knowledge of safety and security procedures.
  • Follows directions, takes criticism well and exhibits ability to work well within a team and in a structured environment.
  • Dependability, flexibility and patience.
  • Required to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the public.

Licenses/Special Requirements

  • Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.
  • Must complete Walla Walla Public Schools Risk Management and Bloodborne Pathogens Training upon hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Temporary position April 2026 through August 2026

Eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week
