Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The 21st CCLC Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating before and after school and summer programming for academic support and academic enrichment activities, with a particular focus on helping students improve math and reading proficiency skills, while also addressing pro-social behaviors. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide day-to-day operation of the out-of-school program incorporating components listed in the 21st CCLC grant to include tutoring support, remedial and enrichment activities, access to math skill-building resources, STEM programming, and leadership and conflict resolution training.
  2. Provide access for parents and/or family members to literacy, basic education, and information on social service programs and citizenship.
  3. Recruit, supervise and train tutors who might include district staff, college and high school students, and/or adult community volunteers.
  4. Develop and implement engaging project-based and other activities with a special focus on STEM.
  5. Work with school personnel to identify and recruit students to the program.
  6. Track student performance data in collaboration with the Program Evaluator for program evaluation.
  7. Coordinate with district personnel and administrators in developing and implementing assessment strategies to identify student needs and develop corresponding program learning modules to support student needs consistent with school improvement plan goals.
  8. Develop computer resources and training appropriate to the ages and abilities of participating students.
  9. Support and coordinate programs of training for parents in basic education, orientation to age-specific school requirements for their children, citizenship and social service eligibility.
  10. Implement college outreach, leadership and conflict resolution training with the Program Director.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the 21st CCLC Program Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters level training preferred.
  • Previous experience working with 21st CCLC programs, or similar after school education, extended-day academic remedial and enrichment programs, including experience developing and implementing STEM and SEL-based curriculum, projects, and activities.
  • Previous training or certification in the YPQI (Youth Program Quality Intervention) process, including Quality Coaching, Planning with Data, Advanced Planning with Data, and Creating Improvement Plans. A background in SEL PQA and quality initiative best practices is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data collection, report writing, budget and expenditure monitoring and supervision.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skill in effective oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal skills and creative problem solving ability.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience; ability to plan, organize, prioritize and complete tasks; exceptional organizational skills.
  • High level computer skills using a variety of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and other software.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and other community norms; ability to work with a wide range of people.
  • Knowledge of community, educational and social service resources.
  • Ability to maintain cost accounting and other records.
  • Ability to collect data for program evaluation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including hours in late afternoon, evening, and sometimes weekends.

Licenses/Special Requirements

  • Must provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain a religious or medical exemption.
  • Youth Work Methods, YPQA/SEL PQA external assessor, and quality coaching certifications.
  • Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.
  • Must complete Infant/Child/Adult First Aid/CPR & AED training.
  • Must complete Walla Walla Public Schools Risk Management and Blood-borne Pathogens Training upon hire.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Non-represented position through 21st CCLC Grant.
